Year 2019 Award presented to The Great Vocalist, Shri Kumara Keralavarma
P. R. Kumara Kerala Varma is a distinguished Carnatic music scholar, teacher, and author, celebrated for his deep knowledge and contributions to classical music. An alumnus of Sree Swathi Thirunal Government College of Music, he joined the institution as a teacher in 1966 and served with distinction for 28 years. A recipient of the prestigious Swathi Sangeetha Award and the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship (2017), he is recognized for his dedication to preserving and promoting Carnatic music. His notable publications include Swathithirunal Krithikal and Thyagaraja Krithikal, which highlight his scholarly expertise and passion for the art form.
