In the cultural map of Kerala, “Vellinezhi” in Palakkad district, being honoured as “Kalagramam” occupies a prominent place. With the message, “Music for peace”, an institution viz. “Sadhgurukulam” was established by Dr. Vellinezhi Subramaniam in the year 2010 at Olappamanna Mana, Vellinezhi. Its inauguration was done by the renowned musician, Kalaimamani Innisai Bhanu Shri. Trichy S. Ganesh. More than 100 students from different parts of Palakkad and other districts are learning Carnatic Music – Vocal, Violin, Mridangam, etc. in this institution.

The “Subramania Bhagavathar Sangeetha Puraskaram” in the name of respected Guru, Sangeetha Bhushanam Vellinezhi Subramania Bhagavathar, is conducted every year in January by the Sangeetha Bhushanam Vellinezhi Subramania Bhagavathar Memorial Trust (SBVSBMT) in association with “Sadhgurukulam” on the day of its Annual Day celebration since 2013. Though the Trust was formed on 13/01/2017, the “Anusmaranam” function was conducted since 2013 by the children of Late Subramania Bhagavathar. The awardee is selected by the Committee.

The Puraskaram, in the name of Late. Subramania Bhagavathar, who was a prominent disciple and relative of Sangeetha Samrat, Padmabhushan Shri Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, is being given to eminent personalities in the field of Carnatic music.

With the aim of spreading classical art forms, the institution also takes initiatives in training talented students who are economically backward. In Kerala School Kalolsavam, the biggest Youthfest in Asia, Master Bharadwaj Subramaniam, a student of this institution, has won First Prize with “A” grade at the State level consecutively for 5 years. Besides Master Bharadwaj, many other students of this institution have also attained first positions in State-level competitions. Among them, Bhavapriya K.S., a gifted Carnatic musician, stands out as a National Kala Utsav winner and Kerala State School Kalotsavam champion.
